Sound Design and Musical Composition with Augmented Reality and Virtual Reality
Sam Pellman (Music) will research and experiment with new methods to utilize OSC commands for live augmented reality musical performance in his project: Exploring Sound Design and Musical Composition with Augmented Reality and Virtual Reality. Spatial audio and ambisonics for VR and AR environments provide incredible opportunities for the live performance of electroacoustic music. Additionally 360 video in conjunction with ambisonic microphones also offers unique methods to record classical performances in immersive ways. This project will also result in the creation of multimedia experiences including works for VR and the reprocessing of a piece Selected Cosmos: Sounds of Life which is a sonification of the base pair sequence of human DNA (as reported by the Human Genome Project).
